Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

The spiderweb of freeways, highways, and streets that crisscross through Los Angeles have become notorious for their state of disrepair. This means that millions have seen or heard that tiny crack noise from a loose pebble or small rock as it hits the windshield. PG Auto Glass Repair Los Angeles is now making it easier for these drivers to get their auto glass repaired or replaced with $ 10 discount on all services.

When that small crack or chip occurs on the windshield, many drivers are hesitant about making that call to a Los Angeles auto glass repair company. The seemingly minor damage may appear to have ended after the initial crack. Unfortunately, things may take a turn for the worse down the road. Over the course of everyday driving and jostling, small nicks can become major cracks. Overnight, moisture in the air can find its way into damaged auto glass, expanding during the day and turning what may have been a minor problem into a life-threatening situation on the road.

This is why PG Auto Glass Repair has positioned themselves to be the most reliable, affordable, hassle-free mobile auto glass replacement company. Their current $ 10 discount to certain glass repair services is an added bonus to their already competitive prices and unbeatable lifetime guarantee. After replacement, the auto glass will be as safe as the day that it was purchased. PG Auto Glass Repair Los Angeles also offers free estimates and a completely mobile repair service. Whether customers are in school, at work, or even relaxing at home, a PG glass repair specialist will be able to fix the damaged window on the spot with no towing or driving.

Dealing with those small chips and cracks no longer has to turn into an expensive, all day project. The experienced staff of PG offer auto glass replacement in Los Angeles that is changing how drivers take care of their windshields. Their high-quality OE replacements will have residents back in their cars with a smile on their face.

PG mobile services trucks carry all the required equipment, so all repairs and replacements can be performed anywhere needed. For information about the services provided by PG Auto Glass and the discounts they offer, visit http://www.pg-autoglass.com. You can also call (800) 227-5454 to get more information or request their services.

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2011

After the recent passing of its founder, Vester Bryce Wilson, leadership of the family-owned, greater San Francisco frameless shower door company Wilson Glass is officially passed down to his son David and grandson Aric. Known to everyone as ?Bryce,? the World War II tail gunner and lover of piloting planes, motorcycles and golf is already missed by his family, who vow to carry on the tradition of providing the highest quality products and services at fair prices.

?It may sound corny, but I really do want to help people,? said Aric Wilson. ?The passing of my grandfather has further strengthened my resolve to be among the best businessmen in the Bay Area.?

What is now a leading East Bay glass countertop and glass shower door company was founded by Bryce in 1956. He opened his first shop at 1555 Galindo Street in Concord, California, an area now dominated by modern apartment buildings. He moved the business to its first Berkeley storefront in 1977.

Bryce?s career in the glass industry began after he received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in October, 1945, after flying 29 combat missions as tail gunner in B-17 and B-24 aircraft, including a flight over Normandy on D-Day. Upon leaving the military, he came to live with his parents?new arrivals from Arkansas?at their new home in Richmond, California, which happened to be right next door to Frank Miller Glass Co.

Bryce went to work for Mr. Miller for about 75 cents an hour. In addition to waiting on customers, he was often recruited to help install enormous plate glass windows. Most of the new stores of the time were installing the large plate glass panes, which were susceptible to breaking during strong winds and needed frequent replacement.

?My grandfather had dozens of great stories about his adventures?he truly lived a very exciting and colorful life,? said Aric. ?He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.?

Today Wilson Glass builds and installs beautiful shower doors and glass countertops for homeowners and contractors all over the Bay Area. The greater San Francisco shower door and countertop company also builds custom products for DIY and out-of-state customers. In fact, about 40% of their current business now comes from shipping to clients who live out of the area.

The company?s folding, bi-fold and tri-fold shower doors are perfect for shower enclosures where there is no space for a door to swing out, and must be folded against the wall.

For more information about Wilson Glass?s products and services, please call them at (855) 202-0297, visit Wilson Glass on the web at http://www.wilsonglass.com, or come to the showroom located at 1035 Murray Street in Berkeley.

Get a windshield repair kit. You can find one for about at someplace olike an Advance Auto Part store.
Clean out the windshield. Remove all of the small shards of glass in the crack using the razor blade. Also, clean off the surface of the glass since you will need a clean section of windsheild to place the suction tool upon. Allow glass cleaner to completely dry in the cracked area.
If you have the suction cup tool centered, thread the repair tube into the suction cup tool. Screw it in as tight as you can get it without using tools. Remember “lefty loosey righty tighty”!
Get in your car and recheck the alignment of the tool. The alignment is that important to the repair process. The rubber end of the tube should be right on top of that nasty chip in your windshield. If it’s not, take out the tube and reposition the suction cup tool.
Alright, now open the repair juice and put about 3 or 4 drops inside of the repair tool. Yes, the direction say 2, but you can’t really have too much, especially if your crack is pretty big (pun intended).
You’re halfway done, but now definitely isn’t the time to take a break. Qucikly after you’ve added the drops insert the plunger and tighten it almost all the way down, really pushing the resin into the crack! If you’re doing it right, it should get harder to tighten. After you’ve tightened it, loosen it a bit to let out air bubbles, then tighten it back up again! The last part seem a bit strange, but trust me, you really don’t want to let in any air.
Untighten the plunger again to let out air bubbles, then retighten. Air bubbles will show up in your repair and make it look like it was a do-it-yourself fixer-upper (it was, but it doesn’t have to look like it).
Give the resin a minute or two, completely remove the suction cup tool, then apply the finishing film. Use the razor blade to sort of press the resin toward the end of the film. Don’t try to press it out completely. Just spread it as thin and evenly as you can get it under the film.
Now leave it alone for about 15 or more minutes. The time doesn’t really matter. The longer the better. Just don’t pull it off early.
If the wind is high where you are doing the repair, you can put a piece of tape on the finishing film to prevent it from drying out.
If you just happen to take the finishing film off early or the repair isn’t seamless, just apply another drop of resin and another piece of finishing film. you should not be abe to even find the crack once you are done with it.
This works best if you perform the repair as soon as possible after the damage is done.
This kit may be covered by your insurance policy since a cracked widshield is an obstruction to your vision. Contact your insurance company for more information.
Don’t do this repair in the hot sun. It’ll cause the resin the dry out too quickly.
If your crack is too deep or is more than 6 inches long, this kit may not work and you may just have to break down and replace the whole windshield. Remember, driving around with a cracked windshield obscures your vision and may even be illegal in some states.

The windshield is one of the most important parts in the drive, but sometimes we often forget to maintain it. As we know windshield has many functions, for example to protect from ultra violet rays, wind, rain and for safety when driving.

To maintain the condition of windshield we can start using the wiper wisely, you should not use the wiper on the windshield when in dry conditions and full of dust because it may cause scratches on it, in addition for the rubber wiper also become damaged and not as soft as before. I think we should inject the water / fluid wiper so that the windshield becomes slippery and the dusts are not up to scratch the glass when the wiper is used.

You can also use the wiper fluid, but first we must ensure that the soap will not make the glass is too coarse so that won’t make a disturbing noise. And don’t forget to often clean the wiper rubber with chamois duster so that the rubber keep clean and there is no dust that could scratch it.

Cleaning the windshield is a bit different with cleaning the body. It should not be polished too often like polished the body of the car. Because it can thin the layer of glass and ultra violet blocking in the layer will be lost and even the glass can become brittle and fragile.

And the last one is tips to avoid the car’s windshield from fungus. For this case we only need to clean it up regularly with the chamois duster after the car used in the rain. For maximum results we can clean it with the micro fiber duster after use chamois duster. And do not let water or dirt in the windshield stick too long, because it can cause fungus and make a glass broken.

So, you should often have to treat the windshield regularly, because it unwittingly has important functions in the drive. By treated regularly then you can avoid things that harm yourselves and others.

Here’s a scary statistic from Consumer Reports: In the U.S. annually, an estimated 11,882 people visit emergency rooms because of injuries from glass bakeware. Some of these accidents are, no doubt, due to slippery fingers. But, Consumer Reports analyzed 163 glassware accidents and found that 55% involved glass that shattered while still in the oven. Many victims also reported that, while they were carrying hot bakeware or when they set it on a counter, it “exploded” and sent shards flying, often causing injuries.

In response to the many complaints related to “exploding” glassware in news reports and online, Consumer Reports embarked upon a year-long study involving product testing. The results, published in the January 2011 issue, led to a recommendation that the Consumer Product Safety Commission investigate further.

Because Pyrex and Anchor Hocking “own 75% of the glass bakeware market,” these are the products that were tested, along with European brands.

American-made Pyrex and Anchor Hocking are made from soda lime glass, while the European products are made from borosilicate, a more expensive glass. The magazine says, “European glass pans withstood our extreme heat tests better than U.S. pans.” However, of the breakage incidents the magazine studied, 78% of users said the temperature they used was 375° or less. This lengthy article provides details about test results as well as anecdotal reports from consumers who have had injuries from glassware products.

If you are using glass bakeware, here are some of the precautions that Consumer Reports and the manufacturersrecommend to avoid breakage and flying shards:

• Always set hot glassware on a dry cloth or potholder, never directly on a counter, metal trivet, damp towel, cold wet surface, or burner.

• Always let the oven fully preheat before placing glassware in it.

• Before cooking meat or vegetables, cover the bottom of the dish with liquid.

• Once the glassware is hot, don’t add water to it.

• Carefully inspect your glassware for chips, cracks, or scratches.

Damaged dishes “may not offer the same safety margin as new dishes,” an expert told Consumer Reports.

• If you’re using the dish in the microwave, 1) don’t use the browning element and 2) don’t overheat oil or butter.

Shelf Life Advice has covered the risks related to “exploding” Pyrex in a previous article. (See “Pyrex Glassware: is it safe to use?” http://shelflifeadvice.com/content/pyrex-glassware-safe-use, so we were happy to see this hazard being addressed by a widely read and respected publication.

Here are our recommendations:

1. If you plan to purchase glass bakeware, European-made products might be a safer bet.

2. If you buy American-made glass cookware, read the instructions and warnings carefully and save them to refer to whenever you use the product.

3. If you already own glass bakeware but no longer have the packaging or booklet about proper use, go online and check the manufacturer’s usage tips. (There may be even more than what’s listed above.)

4. Consider purchasing and using metal bakeware for all baking except in the microwave.

If you are unfortunate enough to have (or have had) an experience with glassware unexpectedly breaking despite no obvious misuse on your part, report the incident to the CPSC at 800-638-27672 or info@cpsc.gov.

The practice of utilizing back painted glass in home dcor has become more and more common in recent years. One of the main reasons for this is the popularization of premium self-priming glass paint. These paints take the guesswork out of back painting glass. They form a permanent bond with the glass by causing a molecular change in the surface of the glass itself. No primers or special treatments are necessary. The ease at which glass can now be painted has led many homeowners to undertake the task themselves. In this article we’ll cover some tips and tricks for dealing with some challenges associated with back painting glass.

How to clean glass paint overspray off back painted glass

Cleaning paint overspray off the front or edges of a sheet of glass is a simple enough process that may require some elbow grease. Use light steel wool to remove overspray from the edges of the glass and then use lacquer thinner to remove any on the front of it. For really thick overspray, use a single edge razor blade to scrape it and then follow up with steel wool and lacquer thinner as necessary.

How to clean glass paint from a paint gun

Once again, lacquer thinner is recommended for this job. Use it with a cloth to clean out your paint gun after each use and be sure to spray lacquer thinner through the paint gun for at least 30 seconds. And for an extra thorough clean feel free to disassemble the paint gun and clean all of the internal parts with lacquer thinner as well.

Tips on installing back painted glass

Now that you’re done painting your glass it’s time to put it on display in a way that won’t have it lying on the ground in a hundred pieces. The industry standard for installing back-painted glass is to use clear silicone glue and double sided glaziers tape. The double sided tape serves as a temporary hold until the clear silicone glue dries. Mirror Mastic and Liquid Nails can also be used for installation.
